COLUMBUS—State Representative Christina Hagan (R-Marlboro Township) last week welcomed Kimmy Kettering, a student from the 50th Ohio House District, to shadow her for the day.

Kettering is a senior at North Canton Hoover High School. She also takes part in the Jackson Automotive Technology Program at nearby Jackson High School where she serves as shop foreman. She plans on attending Mount Vernon Nazarene University to double major in business management and marketing. Kettering first became interested in government through YMCA’s Youth in Government Program and recently participated in the “Ladies in Leadership” workshop hosted by Rep. Hagan last fall.

“It was a pleasure having Kimmy in our office for the day,” Rep. Hagan said. “I am proud to see her excel in pursuit of her passions and areas of interest.”

Kettering was able to join Rep. Hagan throughout her busy day at the Statehouse, which included meetings with various groups and interested parties, committee hearings and House session.

“It was an amazing day and I learned so much about state government,” said Kettering. “I had the opportunity to see what goes on in the Statehouse and what our legislators do to help their constituents every day.”
