State Representative Christina Hagan (R-Alliance) has announced that North Canton City Schools has been selected to receive $4.6 million in funding through Ohio’s Straight A Fund.

The Straight A Fund was developed through the most recent state operating budget to reward schools and school districts for their most innovative reform ideas. For the current fiscal year, a total of $100 million has been appropriated, and North Canton City Schools is one of 24 winning proposals.

“It’s good to see that North Canton City Schools is being rewarded for its innovation and that this funding will be benefitting us locally,” Rep. Hagan said. “The Straight A Fund will be helpful to many schools across Ohio for years to come, and I’m pleased to have supported the fund when voting to pass the state operating budget earlier this year.”

The winning schools were selected based on financial sustainability, statistical analysis and input from a group of grant advisers. The state budget has appropriated $150 million for the second round of Straight A Fund grants, which will take place next fiscal year.
