Rep. Weinstein's bipartisan bill to keep military project funding in Ohio passes House

State Rep. Casey Weinstein (D-Hudson) today announced the passage of House Resolution (HR) 77, bipartisan legislation he joint-sponsored with Rep. Rick Perales (R-Beavercreek) urging over $100 million in federal funding allocated to Ohio’s critical military construction projects to remain in-state instead of being diverted to fund wall construction on the United States’ southern border.

“I am pleased to see the state support Ohio’s military installations as a top priority,” said Weinstein, a U.S. Air Force veteran and Ranking Member on House Armed Services and Veterans Affairs Committee. “As lawmakers, we have a responsibility to provide the best support, resources and work environments for all of our constituents. Ohio cannot afford to lose this designated funding for critical projects to the United States’ southern border for a fake emergency pet project on behalf of President Trump. Our servicemen and women deserve better than that.”

The resolution’s passage comes days after a federal judge partially blocked President Trump's plan to fund a border wall with Mexico using money from existing Defense Department infrastructure, including over $100 million for five military sites in Ohio.

HR 77 was signed by the Speaker following it's House passage.
