COLUMBUS—State Representative Candice Keller (R-Middletown) applauded the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation for approving grant money for the Trenton City Fire Department.

As part of a program aimed at reducing firefighters’ exposure to toxic environmental elements, the BWC is providing grants to 39 fire departments around the state. Trenton, which is located in Rep. Keller’s 53rd Ohio House District, will receive $4,372.50 for the purchase of a washer-extractor, which ensures the proper cleaning and continued effectiveness of protective gear.

“Firefighters are local community heroes that are not applauded enough,” Keller said. “They face dangerous situations every day for the safety of us all. So I applaud the BWC for providing this grant for the City of Trenton Fire Department. Anything we can do to make their job more safe and secure is a step in the right direction.”
