State Representative Brian Hill (R-Zanesville) today announced he will be attending a highway dedication for fallen U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Lester O. “Buddy” Kinney II.

The dedication will take place Friday, April 26th at 1:00pm in the fire hall, with a reception following at the South Zanesville City Building (24 E. Main Street, South Zanesville, OH 43701).

“I am honored to be able to support the naming of a portion of State Route 22 through Zanesville in the name of Buddy Kinney, the first service man killed in Iraq from Muskingum county,” Rep. Hill said. This is just a small reminder of the sacrifice he made for us all. He was a great American and we thank his family for all of their sacrifices.”

The City of Zanesville has renamed a stretch of highway that runs through the city in honor of Sgt. Kinney. Signs are being put up along Route 22 at the north and south entrances to the city.

Sgt. Kinney II was killed January 27, 2004 during Operation Iraqi Freedom near Iskandariyah.

State Representative Brian Hill (R-Zanesville) today was sworn in as a member of the Ohio House of Representatives for the 130th General Assembly. He represents the 97th Ohio House District, which includes Guernsey and most of Muskingum County.
