COLUMBUS -

State Representative Brian Hill (R-Zanesville) today applauded the Ohio House of Representatives’ passage of House Bill 206, legislation that creates a Disabled American Veterans (DAV) license plate.

The DAV is a national organization made up of armed forces veterans who served during times of war and were injured during their service, resulting in a current disability. Their mission is to empower veterans to lead high-quality lives with respect and dignity. Through HB 206, specialized DAV license plates could be purchased at an additional cost, with the proceeds going to further their organization’s efforts.

“These special plates will not only honor the courageous men and women who have fought for our freedoms, but will also provide some much needed funding and awareness for a great organization,” Rep. Hill said.

The DAV was created in 1920 by Ohio native, Captain Robert Marx, who also served as a Cincinnati Superior Court Judge. Currently, the DAV is headed by retired Colonel Joseph W. Johnston. He was elected their National Commander in 2013 and resides in Williamsburg, Ohio.

House Bill 206 passed the House unanimously and will be sent to the Ohio Senate for further consideration.
