State Representative Brian Hill (R-Zanesville) today announced that a bill to fund community improvement projects was introduced in the state legislature.

Senate Bill 310, also known as the capital budget bill, invests a total of nearly $2.6 billion in funding across Ohio for priorities like infrastructure, workforce development and the arts. The most significant portion of the funding goes toward supporting repairs and renovations at primary and secondary education facilities through the Ohio School Facilities Commission.

A significant part of the funding goes toward higher education needs, such as for facility maintenance and learning programs.

The capital budget’s investments are consistent with the legislature’s commitment of fiscal responsibility and a stronger, more competitive economic climate.

The original version of the bill includes projects in Muskingum County, including a White Rhino Barn and educational display at The Wilds, improvements for the Zanesville Community Theater, expansion of Muskingum Valley Health Centers into South Zanesville, and the construction of an agriculture education facility at West Muskingum High School in partnership with Zane State University.

“I was glad to have the opportunity to work to get these projects in the bill that will benefit the 97th House District and the State of Ohio for years to come,” said Rep. Hill.

The capital budget is the product of close collaboration between Governor John Kasich, state agencies, presidents of Ohio’s colleges and universities, local leaders, legislative members and leaders, members of the economic development community, and others within Ohio’s communities.
