COLUMBUS – State Representative Brian Baldridge (R-Winchester) announced today the signing of House Bill 197 by Governor Mike DeWine. The bill, which is an emergency package to assist Ohioans fighting against the COVID-19 public health crisis, is now law. It passed out of both chambers unanimously.

“COVID-19 has caused Ohio to be in a state of emergency and it is our job as legislators to do everything in our power to keep Ohioans from this public health crisis,” said Baldridge. “I’m thankful for the leadership we have here in the House that has guided us to outline the most essential needs for Ohioans during this time. I am also thankful for Governor DeWine’s leadership to get this bill passed so promptly.”

Included in the response package, among a number of other measures, are the extension of tax filing and unemployment benefits, the reduction of testing burdens on students and teachers and the extension of the mail-in ballot period for the primary election until April 28, 2020.
