Bill Roemer News

State Rep. Bill Roemer (R-Richfield) announced that funding from the CARES Act will be distributed to areas within both Summit and Stark counties to aid against COVID-19. The appropriations are provided by the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

Summit and Stark counties will receive $567,622 and $803,098, respectively.

“Like myself, I know many Ohioans across the 38th House district will be very thankful for this assistance,” said Roemer. “This pandemic has hit our citizens and medical professionals hard, this funding will assist our local communities and quicken the pace of acquiring the resources needed to combat this pandemic.”

The CDBG program provides communities and states with funding to provide a wide range of resources to address COVID-19, such as constructing medical facilities for testing and treatment, acquiring a motel or hotel building to expand capacity of hospitals to accommodate isolation of patients during recovery, supporting businesses manufacturing medical supplies, and more.

In total, HUD is allocating $90,919,075 for Ohio through the CDBG program.
