Ohio E-Check Program Funding Update

May 15, 2020
Bill Roemer News

In response to significant budget shortfalls in Ohio, Laurie Stevenson, Director of the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, indicated in a memo to Office of Budget and Management Director Kimberly Murnieks that the agency would make reductions to the E-Check Program that amount to $670,709.

State Representative Bill Roemer, author and sponsor of the 133rd General Assembly’s anti-E-check House Resolution 247, said “The dire economic circumstances and forecasted losses in revenue as a result of the coronavirus crisis tell the people of Ohio that now, more than ever, the burdensome and cost ineffective E-Check Program deserves to be discontinued entirely. While this first step is promising, I implore Governor DeWine and his administration to join our efforts to show this arduous initiative the door in the great State of Ohio, saving taxpayers upwards of $10 million dollars annually as well as countless millions spent in unnecessary vehicle maintenance.”
