As your state representative, I believe that one of my most important responsibilities is working to ensure the availability of quality educational opportunities for our children. Charter schools are an important aspect of our educational system in Ohio. Under the leadership of Speaker Clifford Rosenberger, the Ohio House of Representatives made charter school reform a top priority for this General Assembly. House Bill 2, sponsored by my colleagues Mike Dovilla and Kristina Roegner, seeks to address issues of transparency, responsibility, and accountability of charter schools, particularly where sponsors are concerned.

The Ohio House passed House Bill 39 yesterday, sponsored by Representatives Mike Duffey and Anthony DeVitis. This bill will permit schools and camps to procure and possess asthma inhalers for use in emergency situations.

 
 

03.10.15 - Guest Column: The Transportation Budget Passes In The Ohio House

 

The budget process is a long, extensive job for state legislators here in Ohio. However, I am proud to announce that the first piece of the puzzle has been passed out of the Ohio House: the transportation and public safety budget. House Bill 53, sponsored by my colleague Representative Cheryl Grossman, was voted unanimously out of our chamber and will go on to the Ohio Senate for further evaluation.
