Today, State Representative Anne Gonzales (R-Westerville) presented a resolution today honoring James M. Dowdy II on receiving the 2015 Ohio Music Education Association Distinguished Service Award.

The resolution reads, in part:

“Throughout his career in the field of education, Jim Dowdy has helped countless students develop their musical skills. Willingly giving of his time, energy, and abilities far beyond what was required or expected, he has earned the respect and gratitude of his colleagues, his community, and, most importantly, his students for his genuine love of teaching.”

Dowdy has taught in the Canal Winchester Local School District and the Worthington City School District. After retirement, he taught in the Olentangy Local School District and at Otterbein College, before assuming his current post at Capital University.

“It was my pleasure to present this resolution honoring Mr. Dowdy on his outstanding achievement,” said Rep. Gonzales. “His commitment to music education deserves to be recognized.”

State Representative Anne Gonzales (R-Westerville) today was sworn in as a member of the Ohio House of Representatives for the 132nd General Assembly. She represents the 19th Ohio House District, which includes the cities of Westerville, Gahanna and New Albany; Sharon, Blendon, Plain and Mifflin Townships; the Village of Minerva Park and portions of Columbus. This will be her fourth full term in the Ohio House.
