State Representative Anne Gonzales (R-Westerville) has announced that House Concurrent Resolution 32 today passed out of the Ohio Senate. The resolution recognizes and celebrates independent businesses.

In 2014, HCR 32 officially would designate the week of Monday, June 30th through Sunday, July 6th as “Independent Retailers Week.”

“Small, independent businesses are the backbone of our economy, providing goods and services to consumers and jobs to employees,” said Gonzales, the resolution’s sponsor. “I think it is especially appropriate to recognize their great economic impact during the same time that we celebrate our nation’s independence.”

An independent retailer is a single business that operates by itself and is not part of a larger company chain.
