COLUMBUS -

State Representative Anne Gonzales (R-Westerville) today invited the Columbus Academy field hockey team to the floor of the Ohio House of Representatives to present a special resolution.

House Resolution 298 was given to the team in honor of their significant achievement, winning the 2013 State Championship. The Columbus Academy Vikings did not have an easy season, but the team worked together to build both group skills, like sportsmanship, and individual skills, like endurance. Under the guidance and leadership of their coach, Anne Horton, the Vikings proved themselves by making it to the 2013 State Championship game.

The team overcame every obstacle they encountered throughout the season by beating a tough Thomas Worthington team in overtime 1 to 0, thereby winning their tenth State Championship title. With the State Championship win over Thomas Worthington, the Columbus Academy team ended their 2013 season with an impressive 18-2-1 record.

Representative Gonzales and the rest of the Ohio House of Representatives extend their heartfelt congratulations to the Columbus Academy field hockey team for their incredible accomplishments during the 2013 season.
