The Ohio House of Representatives today passed House Bill 23, sponsored by Representative Anne Gonzales (R-Westerville), which creates a license plate dedicated to “Ovarian Cancer Awareness” and designates proceeds from the sales of this license plate to be specified for the "Cancer Support Community Central Ohio" organization.

It is estimated ovarian cancer is the fifth leading cause of cancer-related death among women and one in 72 women will develop it in their lifetime.

“Raising awareness about this disease is crucial,” said Representative Gonzales. “Ovarian cancer is the most deadly of all gynecological cancers and continues to take the lives of women nationwide. Through the creation of this license plate, I hope to bring attention to not only ovarian cancer, but all cancers and support an organization which provides hope for those who have been touched by it.”

House Bill 23 will now be sent to the Ohio Senate for further consideration.
