COLUMBUS—State Representative Andy Thompson (R-Marietta) today applauded the Ohio House’s passage of legislation granting certain veterans’ organizations an exemption from property taxes.

House Bill 24, sponsored by Rep. Tim Ginter (R-Salem), expands a current tax exemption for property to qualifying 501(c)(4) veterans’ organizations that are exempt from federal income tax. Property that is not used for meetings, administrative needs, or to provide programs or services is excluded from this exemption.

“We cherish and support our veterans, and through this legislation we will continue to support them and try to help lower costs for these great organizations,” said Rep. Thompson.

House Bill 24 now heads to the Ohio Senate for consideration.
