State Representative Gary Scherer is currently serving his third term in the Ohio House of Representatives after being appointed to the 129th General Assembly. He represents the 92nd House District, which includes Fayette County, as well as portions of Pickaway and Ross counties. He serves as the Vice Chair of the Ways and Means Committee and is a member of the Finance Committee.

COLUMBUS—State Representative Gary Scherer (R-Circleville), alongside State Representative Michael Sheehy (D-Oregon), today participated in a press conference to discuss their jointly-sponsored legislation, House Bill 293, a bill lengthening Ohio’s temporary instruction permit time from six to 12 months and instituting nighttime driving protections for new licensees at 10:00 PM.

COLUMBUS—State Representative Gary Scherer (R-Circleville), along with State Representative Michael Sheehy (D-Oregon), will hold a press conference on Thursday to provide updates and information regarding House Bill 293, legislation seeking to modernize and re-structure Ohio’s young driver licensing system. In an effort to decrease the crash rate among young people, the bill would lengthen temporary instruction permit time to 12 months and institute nighttime driving protections for new licensees at 10:00 PM instead of midnight. The press conference will take place ahead of Teen Driver Safety Week (October 21 – 27).

The Circleville Pumpkin Show has become part of our town’s identity. A tradition since 1903, the show attracts nearly 400,000 each year to our 12,000-person community. I am proud to call Circleville my hometown, and each year try to celebrate the Pumpkin Show with my fellow residents.

As the school year kicks off to a start, I find myself reflecting on the tragic events that have recently taken place in our nation’s schools. It is high time that we come together as a state and as a nation with creative solutions to better protect our schools.
