05.24.16 - Driehaus' Bipartisan "Good Samaritan" Measure To Become Law

 

State Rep. Denise Driehaus (D-Cincinnati) today applauded the passage of House Bill (HB) 110, legislation that includes the Cincinnati lawmaker’s bipartisan measure to extend the “Good Samaritan” law to protect individuals from being arrested when they seek emergency room help for someone suffering a drug overdose. 

“In times of an emergency, when lives are on the line, no one should have to second-guess doing the right thing,” said Driehaus. “As Ohio communities continue to grapple with the opioid addiction crisis, we have a stronger opportunity to save lives and fight back against our state’s drug addiction epidemic.” 

 
 

05.16.16 - Driehaus Announces State Investment In UC Brain Cancer Research

 

State Rep. Denise Driehaus (D-Cincinnati) today announced $50,000 in state funds have been released to the University of Cincinnati to help further critical brain cancer research. The University of Cincinnati will provide $50,000 in matching funds to its Technology Validation and Start-Up Fund project, which will use the money to test and develop whether a currently available drug for breast cancer can also be used to treat certain brain cancers. 

“Every family is affected by cancer, whether personally or through their friends and loved ones,” said Driehaus. “If we hope to succeed in conquering cancer during our lifetime, we must invest in the necessary research and education. I am pleased that the state in partnering with the University of Cincinnati to help support this critical research project in the fight against brain cancer.”
