COLUMBUS—State Representatives Jeff Rezabek (R-Clayton) and Bill Hayes (R-Harrison Township) today took another step in improving the education system in Ohio by introducing legislation reforming truancy law in the state.
COLUMBUS—Speaker of the Ohio House Clifford A. Rosenberger (R-Clarksville) today announced that State Representative Andy Brenner (R-Powell) has been appointed to serve as chair of the House Education Committee effective next week. This follows the decision by State Representative Bill Hayes (R-Harrison Township) to step down as chair and fill the role of vice chair of the Education Committee.
State Representatives Andy Brenner (R- Powell) and Margaret Ann Ruhl (R-Mount Vernon) applauded the Ohio House’s concurrence on House Bill 11, legislation that seeks to add a judgeship to the Delaware County Court of Common Pleas, which currently has two judges. The new judge would be elected in 2016 and would serve as the judge of the domestic relations division.
State Representative Andrew O. Brenner (R-Powell) commends the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) today for their reduction of testing time for state assessments. Representative Brenner previously introduced House Bill 74, which called for the reduction of state tests and limiting the time to three hours per year per subject. Fortunately, the ODE has made adjustments that are very similar to those recommended by Representative Brenner in HB 74. Brenner has continued to push for the changes outlined in HB 74.
